Hogarth Jewellers

AJM Decorating have recently completed a fantastic revamp of Hogarth Jewellers, situated on both sides of Branthwaite Brow, in the heart of Kendal. As you can see, the finished project is an eye-catching, striking, high quality shop front.

Hogarth Jewellers are believed to be the only jewellery shop in the world, that display these distinctive, diamond shape, cast iron plates to it’s exterior walls. The plates, cast by local iron monger John Winder, were used as part of a street widening scheme, designed to save space.

We, along with the owners of the shop, believed the cast iron plates should be used to their maximum potential. Therefore, we undertook a complete re-decoration of the exterior, incorporating the use of Pure Brilliant White for the walls against a subtle grey for the plates, resulting in an eye-catching, high quality finish.

Exterior

To achieve such a high quality finish, we believe in using the best quality products available. For this project we used the Dulux Weathershield System.

Our decorators ensured all the walls, cast iron surfaces and woodwork where thoroughly cleaned down, any areas that required attention were repaired and filled, and all woodwork was abraded to prepare the surface ready for painting. All walls were painted with Dulux Weathershield Undercoat and Dulux Weathershield Gloss paint as were all cast iron plates and woodwork. These products offer maximum durability and protection against harsh weather conditions and UV rays.
