A Step Towards Greener

As a Dulux Trade Contract Partner, AJM Decorating is now taking part in a scheme to employ sustainable practices throughout our work – taking a “step towards greener”. As a Dulux Trade Contract Partner, we receive extensive training to make sure our working practices are as sustainable as possible.

We understand the need to reduce our own carbon footprint as much as possible and are constantly researching ways in which we can make our business practices more energy efficient and environment friendly.

Paint can recycling

AJM Decorating is committed to working alongside the Dulux Decorators Centre to ensure no paint cans or any remaining contents go to landfill. The scheme is the only one of its kind to offer wet paint can recycling. Any water-based paint residue is turned into compost and any solvent-based paint is used to help generate energy.

Whether the paint cans are handed in at a local store or collected by Dulux from ourselves, a full certificate is awarded in accordance with all Environment Agency Regulations as proof of the commitment we have to working towards a more sustainable working environment.

Paint Donation

At AJM we also work with local charities, schools, colleges and community projects by donating any leftover paint from completed projects. We are pleased to work with these organisations by providing all types of paint, to assist them in their projects.

We have recently donated Vinyl Matt Emulsion and Satinwood Paint to Kendal Rugby Club for the re-decoration of their Dressing Rooms and Shower Area. We also regularly donate paint to the Community Re-Paint Organisation, who use the donated paint to develop and maintain community areas throughout the country.

If you are a local organisation, and are interested in re-using any of our surplus paint, please get in touch and we will be happy to arrange a donation.

We aim to develop our business by continually improving and delivering more sustainable processes and practices in our everyday working environment, and that of other companies working alongside us.

Green Achiever Registered

We have recently been awarded 5 star status in the ‘self-assessed’ stage with the Green Achiever Company in a move to identify and improve our carbon and environmental footprint. In the current climate, the public are becoming increasingly vocal about how they would like to reduce carbon emissions and use environmentally friendly products. At AJM we have taken all of this on board and are now working alongside the Green Achiever Company to develop our environmental policy and ways in which we can reduce our own company carbon footprint.
